Reno, Nev. – Reno Orthopaedic Clinic (ROC) is now seeing patients at its new South Reno facility located at 10085 Double R Boulevard. The newest addition to ROC’s seven sites in Northern Nevada, the facility allows ROC’s team of orthopaedic specialists to care for residents of the rapidly growing South Meadows in their own neighborhood.

“As our practice has grown along with the community over the past 50 years, we have remained focused on quality orthopaedic care,” said ROC surgeon Timothy J. Bray, M.D. “Reno Orthopaedic Clinic has a talented team of physicians who are accessible to patients throughout Northern Nevada in our multiple clinic locations.”

Services at the new site include orthopaedics, pain management, hand therapy and physical therapy. Patients benefit from state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment such as Computed Radiography (CR), which allows ROC to capture hospital-quality digital x-rays that are superior to conventional film x-rays. The clinic’s electronic medical record system enables physicians and clinical staff to efficiently track patient information and securely exchange data with other healthcare providers.

With three locations in Reno as well as facilities in Sparks, Fallon, Winnemucca and Elko, ROC has made it easier for patients to be treated close to home, which is especially important to patients with painful injuries.

Paul Y. Shonnard, M.D.

Dr. Shonnard received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and did his residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital. He has also completed an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He has been practicing at the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic since 1996. Dr. Shonnard has ongoing research programs in hip arthroscopy and percutaneous calcaneus fracture work. He lectures and teaches hip arthroscopy at national meetings on an ongoing basis. His work on calcaneous fractures is currently in publication. He is a Nevada native and enjoys skiing, hunting and athletics. He is actively involved in skiing and ski racing programs both individually and professionally. He is currently working on his California medical license. Dr. Timothy J. O'Mara

Dr. O'Mara received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Trauma fellowship at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington in 2006. Dr. O'Mara finished his Pediatric Orthopaedic fellowship in Sydney, Australia in 2007. He joined the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic in August 2007.

He is subspecialty trained in trauma and pediatric care.

The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery has designated Dr. O'Mara as "Board Eligible".

Physical Therapists Craig Barton, M.S.P.T. received his Masters in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. Craig enjoys working with all types of patients but has developed a strong interest in the foot and ankle. Craig has also attended courses on the knee and shoulder.
