Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC) proudly announces Nevada’s very first Opioid-Free Orthopedic Surgery Program. This program sets a new standard in patient care. Join us in championing this innovative approach that prioritizes health and wellness without reliance on opioids.
This comprehensive initiative offers patients effective, non-addictive pain management solutions for common orthopedic procedures. This program sets a new standard in musculoskeletal care and aims to significantly reduce opioid use and enhance long-term health outcomes for patients across Nevada.
The Reno Orthopaedic Surgery Center’s certification is deeply personal for ROC’s CEO, Lisa Mead, whose commitment to combatting opioid addiction stems from a personal experience after her son was in a motorcycle accident and became addicted to opioids during his recovery.
The opioid crisis is a significant public health concern, and ROC is dedicated to minimizing opioid dependence following surgical procedures. Did you know that 70% of opioid addiction starts with a legal prescription? ROC’s opioid-sparing approach involves multimodal pain management protocols. These methods aim to reduce the need for opioid-based pain relief.
This accomplishment underscores ROC’s commitment to innovative pain management techniques and patient-centered care. This milestone was marked by Sanjai Shukla, MD performing the first opioid-sparing hip replacement surgery at the Reno Orthopaedic Surgery Center.
“We take great pride in pioneering opioid-sparing surgery through the OSCAR (Opioid Sparing Care And Recovery)™ program,” says Renny Uppal, MD, ROC’s President. “ROC’s dedication to patient well-being goes beyond the operating room, and we believe this surgery center recognition highlights our commitment to delivering innovative and compassionate care.”
