About Eric Boyden, MD

Dr. Boyden graduated from Williams College in 1984 and received his medical degree from the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. Dr. Boyden completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and has been practicing at the Reno Orthopedic Center since 1993. As a faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno, Dr. Boyden has taught many aspiring medical students.

He focuses on adult reconstruction and joint replacement. Since 1993 he has performed over 7,000 joint replacement and revision cases. Dr. Boyden is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, receiving his recertification in 2016.

In October 2008, Dr. Boyden was appointed as the medical director of arthroplasty (joint replacement) services for Saint Mary’s orthopedic department.

Finding a reputable and knowledgeable orthopedic doctor (to correct a previous doctor's knee replacement) that I could trust to handle my knee replacement, I did over the top thorough research. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack for that one perfect doctor's office in a sea of 1000. This is how I found Dr. Boyden's office at ROC. Which my research paid off! Last week, I recently underwent a knee revision replacement procedure with Dr. Boyden. Scheduling my appointment was remarkably easy, and I was seen promptly upon arrival, with less than a 2 minute wait every single appointment. How rare is that! The doctors and staff were consistently, friendly, and professional throughout the entire process. Dr. Boyden and P.A. Benjamin Portillo- Dominguez took the time to listen carefully to ALL my concerns and answered ALL my questions thoroughly. I never felt rushed. I felt comfortable and well-informed throughout the consultation and pre-operative and post-op stages. I told them I never wanted to do another knee replacement but if I had to, I would definitely go through them again! lol. Lastly, I love that ROC offers transportation from the parking lot to the front door.

I had my knee done at ROC years ago by Dr. Boyden. I'm getting by other knee done by him also. There was no doubt in my mind about him doing my knee replacement. I feel totally confident in him. He takes the time to explain everything and answers any questions you have. I would not have my knee done by anyone else but Dr. Boyden. I definitely recommend him to anyone needing knee surgery.
