The ROC - A Legacy of Excellence
in Orthopaedic Patient Care Since 1958
In 1958 our founding physicians hadn’t realized it yet, but they began a legacy here in Northern Nevada. For over 50 years, the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic (ROC) has been committed to providing excellent orthopaedic patient care to our community with special focus placed on athletes, the disabled and the underserved.
With multiple offices in Reno, as well as Fallon, Winnemucca and Elko, we provide care across nearly 80,000 square miles.
Our physicians are nationally recognized leaders and teachers. With 15 orthopaedic surgeons, 2 physiatrists and 6 orthopaedic subspecialties including spine, hand, total joint, foot and ankle, sports medicine and trauma, ROC offers industry leading orthopaedic solutions for patients of all ages and lifestyles. And, we are the only orthopaedic clinic in northern Nevada with 3 fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon specialists. You will find at least one of our physicians on call everyday, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
We look forward to serving you and continuing our legacy of excellent patient care well into the future.
Patient Comments - April 2013
On January 22, 2013, I broke a bone for the first time in my life (I am 62 years of age). Dr. O'Mara was the on-call ortho physician that night at St. Mary's Hospital. I had sustained a trimalleolar fracture of my left ankle. I have had knowledge of my osteoporosis for some time and was extremely nervous about the non-union that can occur with such a diagnosis.
Dr. O'Mara performed surgery on me that evening and afterwards shared his concern regarding my "soft bones". Shortly after my discharge he called my home and instructed me to take calcium and vitamin D to help with the mending.
During my follow-up visits with Dr. O'Mara, his bedside manner was one of kindness and concern. I felt very comfortable that under his care I would heal again and be able to walk and do the things I love, i.e. hiking with my dogs.
During my last visit with Dr. O'Mara he was pleased with my progress and lack of pain, just eight weeks post-op.
I have since started hiking again and having almost no pain in my ankle. Most of the pain I do have is soreness due to atrophy created by my non-weight bearing status for eight weeks.
I wish to thank Dr. O'Mara for the wonderful job he did on my ankle. Having worked for an orthopaedic surgeon for many years, I know that sometimes it doesn't always turn out that way. Dr. O'Mara is a wonderful addition to the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic and anyone who is seeking the help of an orthopaedic surgeon will get my recommendation to see Dr. O'Mara.
